Our Story
Coghlan's has been a family run artisan bakery since 1988. Founded by Brendan & Yolanda Coghlan, the bakery started as a single retail outlet in Dublin city centre. We've come a long way since then and these days the team at Coghlan's is proud to call ourselves innovators in the Irish baking industry. We strive to challenge the status quo and to continually bring new products to market. We know this is essential to remain relevant in Ireland's now thriving food scene.
Our Philosophy
At Coghlan's, we aim to work with partners who have the same philosophy as we do. Our team has an uncompromising attitude towards quality and are driven by continuous improvement. Each ingredient is hand-picked and our recipes are constantly tweaked and tested. All so that we can provide our customers with a superior product and service.
Our Artisan Bakery
Our state-of-the-art plant is located in Co. Kildare. In recent years we have expanded our plant and invested in top-of-the-range equipment to better serve our customers. Our site operates to the highest standards in food safety and is graded against the BRC's global food safety standard. We are also proud members of Bord Bia's Origin Green Sustainability programme.
Our Organic Bakery
We only use the finest ingredients in the production of our sourdough range with the highest quality stoneground flours from our organic French mill “Minoterie Suire”. This is the largest traditional stoneground mill in Europe that is built on the edge of the Sevre Nantaise, a Loire’s French river tributary. This mill uses an old style waterwheel that produces electricity that helps power the mill. All of their organic wheats are transported by ship for a lower carbon footprint. Our process is the same as bread that was produced hundreds of years ago. Our only ingredients are organic stone ground flour, salt, water and time.High quality sourdough requires the skill of experienced craftsmen and technical support and knowledge of our partner suppliers.
